Our vessels been built based upon leading designs enhanced by us and our manager, Danaos Shipping, in consultation with the charterers of the vessels, leading shipyards, and major classification societies (IACS members). These designs, which include the application of advanced technology, make the vessels in our fleet efficient in both voyage speed and loading capability when compared to many vessels operating in the containership sector.

    Danaos achieved compliance with the International Safety Management Code as early as 1995.

    It was the first Greek company to be certified by Det Norske Veritas, considered one of the most stringent of classification societies, and this was a full three years in advance of compliance becoming mandatory.
